Russian Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients :

• 2 lb sirloin or tenderloin steak
• 4 tablespoon butter
• ½ tablespoon minced onion
• ½ lb sliced mushroom
• ½ pt sour cream
• Salt
• Nutmeg
Method :

1. Pound sirloin or tenderloin very thin and cut into near finger-shaped pieces.
2. Melt ½ butter in a large heavy pan. Add onion, cook and stir until onion is tender. Add beef, cook quickly, about 5 minutes, browning on all sides. Set aside.
3. Sauté mushrooms I remaining butter. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg and add to beef. Add cream, heat and season delicately to taste.
4. Serve over buttered noodle.

When I lived in Carlsbad, California, there was a Russian restaurant in an old refurbished railroad car in Solana Beach that served this recipe (or a likeness) and chicken and dumplings, and a borscht that was to die for.

I´m a vegetarian but stroganoff is something that I miss, I really used to love it.

i think its one of the most easy recipes of beef stroganoff, the others i have heard about or read are so complex that you run away from doing it, i think i will be trying it out for sure!!
